Since changes to the Building Regulations in 2010, fitting a solid roof on to a conservatory does not usually require Planning Permission and only requires a building certificate.The Icotherm Solid Conservatory Roof system is fully compliant with building control regulations, approved by JHAI Building Inspectors and structurally approved by Rhodes & Partners, Structural & Civil Engineers. This means that the process of getting a building certificate is quicker and easier.

In usual circumstances, building control is taken care of by local authorities, but this can be a time-consuming process. So that you can replace a glazed or polycarbonate conservatory roof with a tiled roof as quickly as possible, we have worked closely with approved inspector JHAI to create a tailored pre-approval process for installations of the Icotherm Solid Roof system. All you need to do is submit an application. It's a short, simple form for you to complete. There's no need for any further information.It's recommended that your application is submitted and your project is registered with an initial notice seven days before works commence on site.There is a small fee of £225 plus VAT to pay for building certificates. Once this has been received, a site surveyor will be assigned to your project and inspect the conservatory with tiled roof after installation.If the requirements of the checklist on the application form are met, the surveyor will sign off the project and you will receive the completion certificate.

Icotherm Solid Conservatory Roofs are fully compliant with Local Authority Building Control (LABC).LABC guidance for a conservatory with a tiled roof requires a building certificate. However there is no need for LABC registration in order to receive a building certificate. Icotherm Solid Roof is fully compliant for an easy building certificate process.

Conservatories are considered to be a permitted development in most circumstances so there's no need to apply for Planning Permission. However, there are some conditions which you need to adhere to. You can find all the information you need on the Planning Portal.
